NTL announces 5,000 jobs to go

Article Abstract:

Cable company NTL intends to cut 2,400 jobs in 2002 in addition to the firm's plans to cut 2,400 jobs in 2001. In addition, the company's chief operating officer is moving forward with plans for the partial floatation or sale of NTL transmission businesses. The company anticipates that it will break even approximately in 2003.

Life swap TV for real

Article Abstract:

The experience of swapping jobs between the managing director of the History Channel, Geoff Metzger, and his personal assistant is described. The job swap was one of several initiatives that formed pert of launch of National Skills Day to encourage broadcasters to make greater efforts to keep their workforces well trained.
