Jenny Abramsky is controller of Radio 5 Live, which was launched in March 1994. During 1995, the news and sports channel provided coverage of the Rugby World Cup, the Open Championship, and the Ryder Cup; along with the Conservative Party leadership election, VJ Day memorials, and the assassination of Israeli premier Yitzak Rabin. Plans for 1996 include the Olympic Games, and US and Russian presidential elections.

Behind the mic: Rick Simmonds

Article Abstract:

Rick Simmonds entered the UK radio broadcasting industry as a producer at Classic FM in 1993, then moved to Heart 106.2 in October 2006 to be the station's senior producer. He believes that focusing on making quality, entertaining and engaging programs is the key challenge for commercial radio in 2008. His other views on his company and the industry as a whole are also given.

Dave Hickman joined digital rock station The Arrow in 2006, where he hosts a weekday afternoon radio show. He believes that the radio industry ten years from now will not be different from the present situation, and sees the emergence of stations dedicated to a particular genre as exciting. His other views on various issues are presented.
