Article Abstract:

Many cooperation agreements have been reached in the area of children's television broadcasting over recent months. These include moves by Saban Entertainment to take over the licensing, merchandising, marketing and distribution of the Fox Children's Network product. Children's television is receiving particular attention in the US, where the Federal Communications Commission is putting pressure on producers to create a sufficient number of educational programmes.

Uncle Sam goes to town: never before have the giants of US media been so focused on the UK and Europe, with London being seen as the gateway city to this expanding market

Article Abstract:

MTV Networks chairman and chief executive officers Tom Freston believes that the UK currently has one of the most exciting media markets in the world. MTV has had a long standing relationship with London and has been at the forefront of the US move into the UK. New US-led activity includes the launch of WBTV and Fox Kids Network. However the UK is not an easy option and some US companies are not sufficiently aware of cultural differences.

Article Abstract:

Television coverage of sports across the world has been strongly influenced by David Hill, president of Fox Sports. He has invested heavily in purchasing the rights to top US sports, but this has had the effect of pushing up the price of sports rights worldwide. Fox has not hesitated to challenge ESPN, leader in international sports coverage, in key markets, but denies that it is pursuing a global strategy.
