Mapping the discourse of the 1996 US presidential general election

Article Abstract:

Campaign construction and debates of the 1996 US presidential election prevented discussions on many relevant issues. Although misleading statements in advertisements reached a record high of more than 50%, none of the television network monitoring programs revealed the inaccuracies. Debates followed strict rules that limited or prohibited certain questions. The public passively encouraged these strategies by remaining politically apathetic.

Supper with the devil - a case study in private/public collaboration in broadcasting: the genesis of Eurosport

Article Abstract:

One main reason for changes in public service and commercial broadcasting is the rise in the prices of programs and cost of television sports rights. The history of Eurosport, a European Broadcasting Union-sponsored satellite television channel, exemplifies an erosion of distinctions between commercial broadcasters in Europe and public service.
