The television broadcasting veterans say the most promising festival session could be Greg Dyke making his second appearance (a festival first) as guest speaker of the MacTaggart lecture. Other highlights will include James Murdoch of News Corp.'s Star TV, and a panel discussion on new media by Fulcrum's Christopher Hird, and Talkback Production's Peter Fincham, among others.

Redmond: Mersey can run C4 as PSB

Article Abstract:

At the recent Nations and Regions conference in Manchester, Mersey TV chairman Phil Redmond stated that in order to make Channel 4 viable it should be commercial, and that he was interested in buying it from the government and running it in keeping with its commitments for public sector broadcasting for the next ten years. His remarks were aimed at hitting C4, which had demanded [pounds sterling]100m to stick to its PSB commitment over the next few years.
