Scarlet lips in Belsen: culture, gender and ethnicity in the policies of the Holocaust

Article Abstract:

The author examines the cultural and media policies of the Nazis during the Jewish Holocaust from a gendered perspective. Topics discussed include Nazi policies of annihilation, the articulation and disarticulation of concepts of gender and femininity, and the way gendered communications shaped cultural policy.

An exhibition of the Nazi Holocaust at the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, CA, uses digital technology to examine socially inherited memories of this event. Interactive media stations and Web sites are becoming key to conveying the past.

Professing porn or obscene browsing? On proper distance in the university classroom

Article Abstract:

A comment on ways to teach pornography in UK is presented. It is emphasized that the moral implications of time-space distanciation in terms of some of the effects on the public and private domains of sexuality have to be made explicit.
