Sitcom loses out to quiz and chat

Article Abstract:

Channel 5 is playing catch-up to the other terrestrial channels in screened hours of entertainment programming, and new director of programs, Kevin Lygo, is challenged with building the entertainment genre for the channel. Through June 11, ITV screened the most hours of primetime entertainment programming with 145. "Comic Relief 2001" was the best rated light entertainment show for BBC1, and has set the standard that the industry wants sitcoms to achieve.
