Staging a comeback?

Article Abstract:

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) brought in a new manager to run the 180 million pounds sterling budget drama department in 1997, after a series of embarrassing and costly mistakes. Colin Adams restructured the department by allocating individual budgets of up to 7 million pounds sterling for each executive producer. A new ideas and script department has also been formed to promote better programmes. Adams claims more financing is needed to turn the department around although the restructuring is a major start.

Union dues

Article Abstract:

It is becoming increasingly widely recognized in the UK television broadcasting industry that European Monetary Union will bring significant changes, particularly for distributors of television programmes. However, distributors are finding it difficult to establish firm strategies on European Monetary Union because it is not yet certain which countries will join this system and what the final level of fixed exchange will be. Some distributors believe that their main currency will remain the dollar.

United they stand

Article Abstract:

Television Enterprise and Asset Management (TEAM) has acquired stakes in a number of television production and distribution companies over the last few years. It has a fund which invests in acquiring programme rights and back catalogue and is involved in deficit finance of new productions, and has so far acquired 3,300 hours of back catalogue. Companies in which TEAM has become involved have benefited from expertise to which they would not otherwise have had access, such as corporate finance.
