Strength of character

Article Abstract:

There is currently extremely strong demand in the UK for television rights to popular animated characters. Trocadero, for example, paid 14.25 million pounds sterling for the rights to the characters in Enid Blyton's books in Jan 1996, while Cinar paid 10.5 million pounds sterling for the FilmFair character library. Those who hold the rights to a well-known character are now well aware of the potential value, and are very wary about agreeing television deals.
