The BBC's Xmas cheer

Article Abstract:

It took the BBC four years to launch the BBC iPlayer, an online television catch-up service, but the iPlayer still had problems like its clumsy interface and the insistence that a 24-second BBC1 trailer runs before the program. The BBC should organize its offerings in a more coherent fashion to help its end-users, and it should know which programs are demanded by viewers.

The need for the Corporation to state its case convincingly is underlined in the proposal of David Elstein in the BBC, which may not bear much scrutiny. The report underlines the slightly uncomfortable idea that the BBC is the way it is as no one can think of anything better.
