The freedom to offend

Article Abstract:

The implications of the latest regulations imposed on broadcast industry by Ofcom are discussed. The new broadcast rules give considerable freedom to broadcasters to show programs, which could be termed provocative to sentiments of different sections of the society. Broadcasters are also permitted to seek sponsorship from companies for their channels. Other interpretations and ambiguities of the law are also analyzed.

Looking after the birds and bees

Article Abstract:

The risk involved in working with animals in live television shows and the battle between Performing Animals Welfare Standards International (PAWSI) and Animal Consultants and Trainers Association (ACTA) forced the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs to draft a Animal Welfare Bill governing the rules of the use of animals in television. The provisions of the new legislation are interpreted.

A landmark for indies

Article Abstract:

The agreeing to the new codes of practice from the public service broadcasters in their dealings with the indies took 2 long years to plan and formulate but the content shows that it has been a victory of indies and will definitely do a lot to improving this market.
