Weekend star?

Article Abstract:

The ITV network is in a strong position, according to LWT director of programmes Simon Shaps. He feels that ITV is unfairly criticised, and that there is a need to convince people that ITV does actually produce very good television programmes. At LWT, attention is being given to a several new light entertainment ideas, and efforts are also being made to build up its reputation in serious programming. Shaps is keen for LWT to establish closer links with other broadcasters.
