Who won the 24-hour news war?

BBC News, ITV News, and Sky News coverage of the 2003 Iraq War gained large audiences for the television news stations during this time. Increasing demand by viewers for live coverage has helped the 24-hour news stations; however, the main question is whether audiences will continue, after the conflict is over.

Television ratings for the week ending May 6, 2001 finds ITV Granada's 'Coronation Street' at number one, with a viewership of 14.69 million people. Next best was BBC 1's 'EastEnders' with 13.6 million viewers.
