Worldwide chief rejigs senior staff

Article Abstract:

BBC Worldwide's new CEO, Rupert Gavin, has restructured the company's senior management staff. Gavin has appointed Peter Teague, who is acting CEO of the company, as his deputy. Teague, who was BBC Worldwide's previous director of finance and information technology, will also succeed Peter Phippen as managing director of the UK regions of BBC Worldwide. Meanwhile, BBC Worldwide has named Phippen the first president and CEO of BBC Worldwide Americas. Phippen, who will be based in New York, NY, will handle all the activities of BBC TV in Latin America and the US.

Tough act for kids

Article Abstract:

New television show Real Men shows child actors talking about their character's sexual and physical abuse from a children's home. The producers had to tread carefully with the nature of the project, but it turned out that the children were able to act without getting too emotionally attached with their character.

For Granada Television's new series City Life, three unknown writers are chosen to each write an episode. Chosen out of a group of 500 applications, only twenty went to workshops on script development, six were finalists, and three were produced.
