Xtra Factor boosts ITV2 share

Article Abstract:

ITV2 got a boost from Xtra Factor, which had 1.2 million viewers/7% share, and the channel's share increased from 2% the previous week to 2.2%. Football matches drew higher audiences, with the derby between Manchester City and Manchester United had 1.5 million/17% share, while Liverpool vs Chelsea got 1.8 million/15% share. BBC4 has one of its highest ever audiences, with comedy Blackadder Goes Forth taking 800,000/5% share.

Standing out amid the clutter

Article Abstract:

The wide range of programs such as sporting broadcasts, soap operas, and spin-offs, makes it difficult to monitor digital channels in the UK. Making a digital program stand out of the clutter involves good marketing strategies, an example of which is "Ice Road Truckers" which took in a 0.5% share. The ratings of other digital tv programs are discussed.

ITV gains from rugby scrum

Article Abstract:

ITV's channels benefited from airing the Rugby World Cup. ITV2's digital homes share went up from 2.12% to 2.2%, ITV3, from 1.23% to 1.3%, and ITV4 from 0.9% to 1%.
