Efficiency estimation and duality theory for nonconvex technologies

Article Abstract:

The case of efficiency measures for a not-for-profit organization with sub-units, producing a single output is considered. The firm's goal is to abide by expenditure limitations imposed by a pre-determined budget while maximizing output. Two potential sources of inefficiency in the budgeting process are identified: misallocation of resources by senior management to managers of sub-units (managerial inefficiency), and failure by individual managers to choose optimum output (allovative inefficiency). Overall organizational inefficiency is defined as a product of the two. The analysis extends to the nonconvex environment duality theory.

Duality in procurement design

Article Abstract:

Finding an optimal mechanism in a standard adverse selection model is equivalent to solving an infinite dimensional linear program. The hybrid mechanism is studied, which contains the features of both auctions and successive take-it-or-leave-it offer.

Duality Between Direct and Indirect Utility Functions

Article Abstract:

Conditions are derived for the quality of the primal function. Quality may be used in production and consumer theory. Consumer behavior may be expressed through the indirect utility function.
