Household labor supply in urban areas of Bolivia

Article Abstract:

An analysis of the Bolivian labor supply behavior reveals that the low earnings of the husbands are compensated for by more working hours of the wife revealing a more flexible wage structure. The model only partially reproduces the data as nonparticipation among males is not represented revealing that further research is needed in this field. The models integrate the models of Ransom (1987) and Magnac (1991).
