Investment in energy efficiency: do the characteristics of firms matter?

Article Abstract:

Corporate characteristics influence a firm's investment decision towards energy efficiency. Analysis of firms planning to engage in the Environmental Protection Agency's voluntary Green Lights program revealed that commitment to such program is greatly influenced a firm's characteristic. The effectiveness of maximum-likelihood imputation of missing data was also proven to enhance the capability of hypothesis tests.

Effective rates of protection when domestic and foreign goods are imperfect substitutes: the case of Thailand

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze effective rates of protection (ERP) for domestic and foreign goods. The study relaxes the assumption of perfect substitution. A 54-sector general equilibrium model of Thailand is applied for the analysis. ERPs are computed under assumptions of both imperfect and perfect subsitution. Results show that equilibrium rates vary across ERP ranking, magnitude and sign.

The capital-energy substitutability debate: a new look

Article Abstract:

Studies on the elasticity of substitution between capital and energy have resulted in cross-sectional and time-series estimates. Cross-sectional studies suggest capital-energy to be substitutes. Time-series studies suggest the reverse. The Morishima elasticity is a more useful measure for capital-energy substitution. Morishima estimates suggest capital-energy to be substitutes.
