The Deming cycle extended to software development

Article Abstract:

An approach called the plan-do-check-action (PDCA-L) cycle was proposed for software development projects. The approach, which has an added Learn component, offers a new methodology that can be implemented to the unique software development process. It aims to transform firms from project-based organizations to capabilities-based organizations by making software development process a learning experience.

SPC implementation in the plastic molding industry

Article Abstract:

The effects on employee attitudes and the structure of the organization of statistical processcontrol (SPC) implementation in the plastic molding industry are examined. A survey of 78 plastic molding firms in the state of Texas is conducted. The extent of SPC implementation, the various approaches used in implementing SPC and the quality control tool's impact on the firm surveyed are described.

SPC, process improvement, and the Deming PDCA circle in freight administration

Article Abstract:

The application of total quality management, continuous improvement, data analysis,statistical process control and the Deming Plan, Do, Check, Act circle at Digital Equipment Corp to improve the freight management process is described. The direct and indirect benefits gained from the application of these management principles in the freight payment process are also discussed.
