Twenty-seven articles of Lawrence of Arabia: A perspective on training Iraqis during OIF

Article Abstract:

Guidelines are presented to Marines of the military transition team (MiTT), sent to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), on the ways in which they should help transition of an Iraqi Army (IA) unit to an independent one. These tips are taken from the outlines of 27 articles of T.E. Lawrence published in 1917 in order to instruct American Marines how to understand the IA and assimilate into Iraqi culture, within a counterinsurgency environment.
