Assuming the offensive: the laser threat on the 21st century battlefield

Article Abstract:

Laser technology has evolved considerably in recent years, including its military applications. Laser is now used in a variety of weapon systems from super-accurate rangefinders and target-designators to fire-control and surveillance devices. Military officials are looking at successfully developing anti-materiel and anti-personnel lasers. The latter application, however, is still the subject of a great controversy.

Global strategic nuclear balance

Article Abstract:

There are a number of difficulties faced by nations that seek to establish a global nuclear weapons balance, including the national secrecy connected with such weapons. Another difficulty is that some biological weapons could have an impact as great as that of nuclear weapons.

The end of the Cold War was viewed by many as the beginning of world peace, however the ensuing years have seen numerous ethnic, communal, and border conflicts, along with two major wars. A look into the future of world conflicts is presented.
