Balkan digitization initiative

Article Abstract:

The US Army's Balkan digitization initiative (BDI) includes the design, installation and operation of new computers and tracking subsystems on 70 up-armored Humvees in Bosnia. The installation of tracking systems on the Humvees is designed to enable commanders to know the whereabouts of the patrol vehicles. The BDI is a cooperative efforts between US Army Europe, the program executive officer for command, control and communications systems, the US Army Communications-Electronics Command Logistics Readiness Center, Tobyhanna Army Depot and TRW Inc.

Aerial common sensor

Article Abstract:

The aerial common sensor (ACS) serves as the ArmyEs airborne ISR (intelligence/surveillance/ reconnaissance) system and replaces the current Guardrail common sensor and airborne reconnaissance low systems. The ACS SIGINT subsystem (signals intelligence) will be capable of providing precision targeting, imaging and geo-location within the CorpsE area of responsibility and will use DCGS-A (distributed common ground system-Army) as its ground system.

The Institute for Creative Technologies (ICT) is a university-affiliated center, established between the University of California and the U.S. Army, having the goal to apply Hollywood special effects to the emerging technologies to military training. Through its participation in the 'Full Spectrum Warrior' Xbox game ICT has tried to observe whether a cognitive leadership trainer could be developed for a game console.
