Article Abstract:

The Tactical Decision Game #03-5 presents a situation where the Scout/Sniper Platoon Commander, 2d Battalion, 1st Marines and his platoon organized into five teams is moving through a valley in search of forces armed with weapons, mortars and air defense systems that are occupying the area. The lead company commander (Echo Company) makes visual contact with the enemy and is about to conduct an ambush when Hunter 3, followed by Hunter 4, report platoons of infantry advancing towards their position and Hunter 1 is forced to fire due to the proximity of the enemy. Orders now need to be issued to the platoon and a report needs to be sent to battalion.

Developing the moral compass of the 21st century NCO Corps

Article Abstract:

Fourth-generation warfare that will be nonlinear and place more responsibility on the noncommissioned officer (NCO) will require the NCO to be a moral arbiter who can assess the ethical and moral implications of his decisions. The importance of training and education of NCOs to be ethical decision-makers in addition to displaying tactical and technical proficiency is discussed.

Fixing 'fix reconnaissance'

Article Abstract:

The fundamental problems still remain even after the Commandant directed the Marine Corps to fix reconnaissance. Several steps taken by the US Marine Corps in fixing the 'fix reconnaissance' is discussed.
