Chile

Article Abstract:

Gen Ricardo Izurieta, Commander-in-Chief of the Chilean Army, believes western armies should not forget their principal missions while acquiring the capability to conduct peackeeping and humanitarian operations. Izurieta thinks it is impossible to create an ideal army even for the world's superpowers. He admits that every Commander-in-Chief would like to have an army that can ably fulfill its wartime and peacetime missions in an efficient and flexible manner.
