Chile, U.K. complete Type 23 frigate purchase, refit deal

Article Abstract:

An agreement between the United Kingdom and Chile covers the sale of three used Type 23-class frigates from the Royal Navy to the Chilean Navy and the sale, which covers a refit in the UK, will complete the Chilean Navy's transition to a modern surface force solely through the used ship market. BAE Systems Customer Solutions & Support and Fleet Support Ltd. will together effect the transfer.

First Romanian frigate arrives home

Article Abstract:

The first of two ex-UK Royal Navy (RN) Type 22 Batch 2 frigates sold to Romania, Regele Ferdinand arrived at Constanta in the Black Sea after departing Portsmouth, UK on 26 November 2004. A Terma Soft-kill weapon system, Rhode and Schwartz communications and a Sperry Marine Mk 39 ring laser-gyro compass form part of the equipment installed as part of the reactivation process on the ship.

Chile signs UK Type 23 frigate deal

Article Abstract:

The UK and Chilean governments have signed a GBP134 million (USD242 million) contract that covers the transfer of three former UK Royal Navy (RN) Type 23 frigates to Chilean Navy. The sales agreement covers the purchase of the three frigates, HMS Norfolk, HMS Marlborough and HMS Grafton, the pre-sale sanitization and maintenance, and a package of operator and maintainer training.
