Flight IIA Burke DDGs score against missiles

Article Abstract:

Two Flight IIA Arleigh Burke-class Aegis guided missile destroyers (DDGs), on firing exercises prior to their commissioning in the US Navy in late 2000, were able to successfully intercept drone targets using standard surface-to-air missiles and the service's most advanced computer program. The Baseline 6 Phase 1 Aegis system, built by Moorestown, NJ-based Lockheed Martin Naval Electronics and Surveillance Systems, was used by the DDGs to score direct hits on specific targets.
