Curbing arms industry is vital for Ukraine's NATO ambitions

Article Abstract:

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko hopes that reforming his country's defence sector will help in rehabilitating its image after many years of reckless weapons exporting and also pave way for its full integration with the Euro-Atlantic community. Yushchenko's Euro-Atlantic ambitions received a boost during his April 2005 visit to the US, where the US President openly endorsed Ukrainian NATO membership.

Missile defence launches US-Ukrainian co-operation

Article Abstract:

Ukraine's Orange Revolution that many believed would prevent it from joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has vast potential for a cooperative relationship between Ukraine and USA on missile defense. Such a mutually advantageous relationship would additionally give a boost to the geopolitical objectives of both sides.

Ukraine looks to boost arms exports

Article Abstract:

There have been reports that Ukrainian weapons exports have decreased, and that the government continues to sell arms to countries such as Libya and Macedonia. Ukraine denies any decline in exports, and defends its right to sell weapons to the countries in question.
