USMC welcomes first prototype of General Dynamics AAAV

Article Abstract:

The first prototype of the General Dynamics Advanced Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAAV) was unveiled during a ceremony at Marine Corps Air Facility in Quantico, VA. The AAAV was shown side-by-side with two other platforms that comprise the 'amphibious triad' at the heart of the Marine Corps' Operational Maneuver From the Sea warfighting concept. The other two platforms were the MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft and the veteran LCAC.

New AIP technology heads to sea

Article Abstract:

The first Type 212A submarine, which is powered by the world's first fuel-cell air-independent propulsion (AIP) system, has begun its initial sea trials in the Baltic Sea. The Type 212's AIP system, which is based on the hydrogen fuel cell, enables the vessel to operate submerged for several weeks at a time.
