Europe visit highlights foreign councils' unique challenges

Article Abstract:

The unique challenges faced in serving the Navy League mission include great distances from IS military installation, infrastructure and sea service populations, shifting political and social climates that can be less than friendly to the U.S. military presence, and small population base from which to draw membership. The Navy League National President visited different councils organized in France, Italy and Spain after the first council in Cannes.

NAVSEA's Balisle: Architect of change in a violent world

Article Abstract:

Vice Adm. Phillip M. Balisle, the commander of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), talks about the issues that are confronting him and the NAVSEA. The changes required by the Navy in order to prepare the ships to operate in different composition of forces and on different timelines to meet the unpredictable threats, and the funding required from the government to make these changes are discussed.
