From anti-tank to multi-purpose infantry systems: UK ASM order underlines global trend

Article Abstract:

A new order placed by the UK Ministry of Defense for a new-generation infantry weapon system underlines an increasingly significant global trend. Dedicated guided or unguided anti-tank weapons, while still important, are being supplemented and in some cases replaced by multi-purpose systems which combine reasonable anti-armor performance with enhanced effectiveness against a variety of semi-hardened targets such as bunkers or field fortifications.
