Going soft: China's alternative route to regional influence

Article Abstract:

Chinese soft power is growing in culture, political ideas and policies thus bolstering Beijing's diplomatic fortunes throughout Asia ensuring Chinese foreign policy as more effective as compared to the United States despite a lack of military parity. This growing diplomatic influence and soft power of China only means that Washington will have to increasingly compete with Beijing for influence in South and Southeast Asia.
