Several models of the High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) are being modernized and upgraded to facilitate the reconnaissance mission. The US Army uses the HMMWV as an extempore mount for reconnaissance sensor systems such as the Raytheon LRAS3 or the less sophisticated Vehicle Mounted Advanced Surveillance (VMAS) system.
