Heavyweight contenders shape up for the littoral

Article Abstract:

The current heavyweight torpedo development activity is influenced by improved shallow-water performance, an enhanced capability against increasingly sophisticated countermeasures and a drive for reduced life-style cost. The innovative technology activities that are currently underway and the potential for heavyweight torpedo vehicles to provide the basis for large-capacity submarine-launched unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) are described.
