Horizon EW is go

Article Abstract:

The move by the committee that oversees the development of the trinational (France, Italy, and the UK) 'Horizon' Common New Generation Frigate (CNGF) to expedite the selection of all the required ship systems by October 1998's end will also affect the development for the CNGF's electronic warfare (EW) suite. The EW selection process is expected to be completed by June 1998, previously May 1999, but development and production of the CNGF EW specification by 2004 is unlikely. Industry players involved in the program also argued that further advancing of the CNGF development will be a burden since the full CNGF EW spcification is beyond the funding capabilities of some of the participating countries. They added that a substantial lack of commonality between the proposed specifications further drags the program.
