Middle Eastern navies: Status report and current programmes

Article Abstract:

The Middle Eastern armed forces have traditionally assigned top priority to land power, then to air power and a relatively low priority to the navies in the region, due to political, strategic and operational reasons. But several naval programs are being resurrected now to bridge the gap, and the status and current programs of the navies in Middle Eastern countries including Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia and the UAE are presented.
