In the Republic of Georgia: Cooperative engagement in the war on terror

Article Abstract:

The training of units in the Republic of Georgia by the US Marine Corps since 2002 is part of the Georgia Train and Equip Program (GTEP), designed to enhance the capability of selected Georgian military units to provide security and stability to strategically significant Georgia and the Caucasus region. This has enabled Georgia to become an active member of the international community, and participate in the global war on terror by sending troop s to Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo.

Virtual seminars: Extending the global reach of officer PME

Article Abstract:

A pilot seminar by video teleconferencing (VTC) designed by Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow and Camp Pendleton during 2002, which permits the Marines in Annapolis, Maryland to complete their professional military education (PME), is described. The VTC technology allows students and faculty to interact with each other in realtime and participate in seminar discussions that leverage the operational expertise of the faculty and fellow students.

Genesis of an ulcer

Article Abstract:

Two centuries ago, when Napoleon forcibly occupied Spain, it provided timeless lessons for strategic and operational planners. As a part of postwar stabilization operations, it has shown the limitations of conventional military actions, and shows the pitfalls of forgetting people to normalize the atmosphere.
