Indian intelligence gathering undermined by budget cuts

Article Abstract:

Bureaucratic and Inter-organisation rivalries have disenabled the workings of the Multi-Agency Center (MAC) of IndiaEs Intelligence Bureau (IB), which was set for online collection and dissemination of terrorism-related information. The MAC is a state-of-the-art venture intended to equip the IB with specialist hardware for gathering domestic information and conducting counterintelligence activities.

Detente for India and Pakistan?

Article Abstract:

The latest summit between India and Pakistan, held in New Delhi in April 2005, has given a further indication that interstate tension on the subcontinent is continuing to decrease. Although the summit has created a justifiable optimism, a number of underlying factors like Kashmir issue, water disputes are still jeopardizing progress towards the normalization of relations.

Nepal coup presents India with foreign policy dilemma

King Gyanendra's decision to take executive power in Nepal has put lots of pressure on India to decide whether to support the King or pressure him into a rapid return to democratic rule. The impact of India's decision on Maoists insurgents in India and Nepal and also on foreign policy is discussed.
