Irregular warfare: New concepts for consideration

Article Abstract:

Publications aimed at developing a set of concepts and doctrine to improve the capabilities of Marine Corps in combating irregular warfare are listed and discussed. It is suggested that the capabilities required to wage irregular warfare are largely intellectual rather than material or technical, and mental agility and organizational adaptability would enable and support the Marine Corps' successful confrontation of irregular warfare.

Reconnaissance command

Article Abstract:

Reconnaissance command or the intelligence battalion is a unique assignment that requires a unique set of core competencies and experience that only a few hold. The process of selecting, equipping, training and grooming recon units and leaders would ensure long-term health, viability and continued success of the Marine Corps.

Article Abstract:

The United States Marine Corps infantry units are struggling to reestablish both the Marine expeditionary unit (special operations capable) (MEU(SOC)) and the unit deployment program (UDP). Most of the Operating forces are committed to deployment cycle leaving none for major contingencies.
