Weapons and munition improvements for the infantry in battle

Article Abstract:

The US Marine Corps infantry battalion must be equipped with the 106mm recoilless rifle, which can deliver sustained fire at a maximum effective range of 1,350 meters. The 106 can use high-explosive antitank, high- explosive plastic with tracer and antipersonnel with tracer rounds. It can also be easily transported to rooftop positions and engage targets with overhead fire. The HMMWV-mounted TOW can also be adapted to mount the 106mm recoilless rifle, providing a firing platform within existing battalion vehicle tables of equipment.

The 60mm mortar section: let's not leave it in the 20th century

Article Abstract:

The current table of organization and table of equipment of the 60mm mortar should be adjusted to exploit the latest developments in ammunition improvements. The 60mm mortar can engage targets at a maximum of 3,500 meters with high-explosive (M888/M720 series) and white phosphorous (M722 series) rounds. It can also be used to illuminate the battlefield at night at the same distance. The addition of a fire direction center can improve its accuracy at longer distances, where targets can no longer be visually sighted.
