F-22 fires AIM-9 sidewinder

Article Abstract:

The F-22 fighter aircraft reached another milestone on Jul 25, 2000, with the successful launching of an AIM-9 air-to-air missile from the plane's internal weapons bay. The test, conducted at NAS China Lake, CA, at 20,000 feet, is part of an assessment of the fighter aircraft's capability that is being implemented by the F-22 Combined Test Force. The aircraft, which has been flown for about 650 hours, is set to fire an AIM-120 missile in fall 2000.
