Fanciful flight

Article Abstract:

The US Marine Corps is engaging in a project that could be worth more than $6.2 billion to come up with a more formidable super-light tank to replace its existing M1A1 Abrams tank and the Light Armored Vehicle. Called Expeditionary Family of Fighting Vehicles, the project would fulfil the Marine Corps' positioning into the concept of Operational Maneuver From the Sea. The Marine Corps is currently working on concept and some materiel development for the novel combat system that it hopes to create by 2025.

Subtle shifts

Article Abstract:

There are concerns that military spending patterns could deteriorate if the Congressional appropriations committees gain the upper hand over their counterparts in the authorization committees. If the appropriations committees gain more influence, they could lose sight of the policy guidelines set by the authorization committees and concentrate on their objectives of ensuring that spending bills are passed.
