Little Birds

Article Abstract:

The AH-6 and MH-6 Little Birds helicopters of the Army's 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment are considered among the quickest, most silent and most agile light helicopters in military service. The Little Birds are characterized by their rounded, bubble nose and T tail. They are the military variants of the Boeing MD 530 commercial helicopter and trace their origins to the Army's OH-6 Cayuse. The Little Birds have Raytheon Systems' AAQ-16D forward-looking infrared sensor turret under the nose for night navigation and targeting.
