Navy should bolster crisis planning for theater ASW

Article Abstract:

The preliminary reports of the U.S. Navy's Fleet Battle Experiment Kilo (FBE Kilo) indicates that the common undersea picture technology has worked well and the antisubmarine warfare (ASW) commanders require more training and staff for crisis planning at the operational level. A series of experiments that are developed by the Naval Welfare Development Command are designed to test and evaluate certain warfighting initiatives in an operational environment.

TacSat-1 satellite designed to meet needs of tactical level commanders

Article Abstract:

Naval Center for Space Technology experiments with array of ways to improve intelligence, speed communications for tactical commanders. TacSat-1, a small, cheap satellite that can take high quality pictures, detect and identify radio frequency signals, and operate at the beck and call of military commanders is expected to be the solution to the lack of organic intelligence resources.

Guard plans course for commanders ashore

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Coast Guard is developing a leadership class for the future commanders and executive officers of shore stations. The risk management and assertiveness that are part of the Coast Guard Command and Operation School's curriculum for the commanders and officers ashore, considerably reduce the accidents at sea.
