Powering the future: Advances in aircraft propulsion technologies

Article Abstract:

Gen Henry H. 'Hap' Arnold, architect of American airpower stated that the first essential of air power is preeminence in research, which revealed Arnold's vision for aeronautical research and development that shaped the US Air Force. To succeed in providing the nation with a rapid air and space response capability, researchers should deliver number of technologies including a focus on propulsion and power solutions for aircraft, weapons and space systems.

Article Abstract:

MTU, of Germany, is the aero-engines manufacturing unit of Daimler Benz Aerospace of Germany. The firm is the leading engine manufacturer in Germany. MTU is the only German firm that has operational capability of developing, building and repairing each and every component of an aircraft engine. In 1997, the firm has registered record sales and shipment. The firm, which has 6,100 workers, has registered sales of DM3 billion.

Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce Deutschland works with other German companies such as the supplier of turbine blades, Thyssen. Rolls-Royce engines numbering more than 2,200 are operated in Germany by such companies as Lufthansa, LTU and the German Air force, Navy and Army.
