The linguistic tipping point

Article Abstract:

The Marine Corps need to identify the tipping point that will enable Marines to learn languages and culture quickly in order to operate more effectively in the current counterinsurgency environment and also assist the Iraqi people in obtaining their hard-earned freedom. Having enlisted leaders who appreciate the importance of the linguistic effort and finding ways to learn the language from Iraqis themselves in every military occupational specialty (MOS) is sufficient to make these skills a Corps-wide habit.

Division EOD platoon: A justifiable need

Article Abstract:

The Marine Requirements Oversight Council (MROC) is consolidating all explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) assets within one central command within each Marine expeditionary force (MEF), which will ensure that support is given to the units needing assistance and reallocation of assets through a timely tasking medium. Few solutions are provided for the problems that might occur if the consolidations of those assets are not feasible to the MROC.
