Royal Marines to get new Swedish vehicles

Article Abstract:

Hagglunds Vehicle AB of Sweden has won a contract in mid-Mar 2000 to supply the UK Royal Marines with 108 BvS10 armored all-terrain vehicles. Under the terms of the $82-million contract, two pre-production BvS10s will be delivered within the year and the rest will be delivered in series between 2002 to 2005. The BvS10 has a higher load-carrying capacity and speed compared to the Bv206, which is being used by the Royal Marines.

CVF rivals shore up teaming arrangements

Article Abstract:

Rolls-Royce PLC and Harland and Wolff PLC have joined British Aerospace PLC's consortium bidding for the UK's GBP2.2-billion ($3.5 billion) Future Carrier (CVF) program. BAe's Defence Systems Group and partner Marconi Electronic Systems have earlier submitted their tender for the assessment phase of the CVF program. The rival team is composed of Thomson-CSF, Raytheon and BMT Defence Services.

Boeing pitches tiltrotor to the UK

Article Abstract:

Bell Boeing Corp's V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft could provides significant operational advantages over the current traditional light, medium and heavy lift helicopters of the Royal Navy (RN). The aircraft has been shown to meet the requirements of the RN's Future Amphibious Support Helicopter (FASH) program based on speed, range and survivability. It also passed three operational scenarios designed for the FASH program.
