VT plans redevelopment at Woolston

Article Abstract:

Vosper Thornycroft (VT) is intent on the re-development of an existing shipyard in Southampton, England. The multi-million investment is aimed at positioning the company for naval shipbuilding contracts from both the UK Royal Navy (RN) and overseas clients. VT, which has already submitted its proposal with the Southampton City Council, intends to compete with BAE SYSTEMS for downstream production oders of the RN's Type 45 destroyer.

New milestones for Romanian frigate programme

Article Abstract:

The regeneration and upgradation work of two former UK Royal Navy Type 22 Batch 2 frigates has begun. The two ships are transferred to the Romanian Navy under a pound sterling 116 million deal where the upgrade of the two ships would be managed by the naval business unit of BAE Systems Customer Solutions and supported under a back-to-back contract with the UK Ministry of Defense's Warship Support Agency.

Sampson radar comes aboard UK Royal Navy's first Type 45 destroyer

The first-of-class (FOC) Sampson active-array multifunction radar (MFR), installed on 30 March 2007 by BAE Systems Surface Fleet Solutions aboard "Daring", the lead Type 45 destroyer for the U.K. Royal Navy, is described.
