Senate passes defense appropriations bill

Article Abstract:

The FY08 Defense Appropriations Bill was passed by the U.S. Senate Appropriations Committee, and will be sent to the Senate Floor. The bill provides $98.2 billion for procurement and $75.4 billion for research and development. The other provisions of the bill are also presented.

Article Abstract:

The article highlights that due to international trade barriers, especially on defense related products, U.S. efforts to make cheap and effective weapon systems have failed. U.S. should cooperate with European company to overcome this failure.

Defense Firms Cope With US Protectionism

Various sections in the US National Defense Authorization Act for financial year 2006 if approved by the senate would deter foreign defense companies intending to sell in the US market as the language is obstructive.
