New simulator training for vehicle crews

Article Abstract:

An innovative and less expensive way to provide simulated training for vehicle crews is the `appended training,' which incorporates stand-alone simulation techniques and actual piece of equipment. The Corp's Light Armored Vehicle Full-Crew Interactive Simulator Trainer (LAV-FIST) for the LAV-25 was one of the first applications of the appended training technology. More recently, I-Sim Corp of Murray, CT, has developed the Century Series simulators used for training police officers and truck drivers.

COMBATT; the military could lease rather than buy future light tactical vehicles

Article Abstract:

The Marine Corps might consider using full-size modified civilian pickup trucks for missions that do not require military vehicles. These would have a cost advantage, in that they could be leased, and then resold.
