US-UK carrier co-operation

Article Abstract:

US Secretary of the Navy John H. Dalton has declared the high-level presence of US-UK negotiations for cooperation on new-generation aircraft carriers. According to Dalton, the US will provide information about the developments in its CVX program in exchange for information regarding UK's next-generation carrier programs, particularly the DD 21. Cooperation on carrier research and development will also be covered, to allow the two governments benefit from each other's knowledge of carrier technologies.

Second Russian-built PLAN destroyer rolls out

Article Abstract:

Severnaya Verf of St Petersburg, Russia, introduced on Apr 16, 1999, the second and final 8,400-ton Sovremenny-class guided missile destroyer that is being manufactured for China's People's Liberation Army/Navy. Equipped with eight supersonic Raduga Moskit SSMs, the destroyer will feature anti- submarine mortars and rockets, four 130mm/70 AK 130 twin guns, four AK-630 30mm close-in weapons system modules and four 533mm torpedo tubes.
